Sabías que… a partir del año 2018, la UNED incorporó una nueva herramienta de videoconferencia de escritorio en su Plataforma Moodle, esta se conoce como BigBlueButton, la cual facilita una comunicación sincrónica entre los participantes de un curso o asignatura.

Entre los principales beneficios, que tanto el personal docente como el estudiantado pueden obtener con el uso de esta herramienta, encontramos:

  • Configurar sesiones a horas predeterminadas.
  • Grabar sesiones, para que el estudiante pueda repasarlas como material de apoyo en sus asignaturas.
  • Permite mostrar presentaciones en distintos formatos (.pdf, .doc, .ppt, entre otros).
  • Realizar encuestas durante las sesiones. 
  • Utilizar la pizarra interactiva.
  • Compartir escritorio o ceder el mando de la presentación con uno de los participantes (posibilidad habilitada solo si se tiene rol de moderador).
  • Distribuir estudiantes en subgrupos de trabajo y asignar salas para cada grupo, donde el profesor puede monitorear cada una de estas salas y verificar el avance de las actividades. Cabe destacar que la discusión que se genere en de carácter privado entre los miembros que la conforman. 
  • Chat público y privado en tiempo real, entre los distintos participantes.
  • Permite la utilización de la cámara web, para promover una mayor cercanía y romper el hielo entre los participantes de manera que estos puedan conocerse.

Esperamos que esta breve descripción los inste a utilizar e investigar sobre las herramientas que la plataforma de aprendizaje en línea Moodle de la UNED, pone a su disposición para enriquecer la experiencia del aprendizaje.

 

BigBlueButton Web Conferencing Tool

Did you know that ... as of 2018, UNED incorporated a new web videoconferencing tool in its Moodle Platform? Known as BigBlueButton, this tool facilitates a synchronous communication between the participants of a course or subject.

Among the main benefits that both the teaching staff and the student body can obtain with the use of this tool, we find that the BigBlueButton allows us to:

  • Configure sessions at predetermined times.
  • Record sessions, so that the student can review them as support material in their subjects.
  • Show presentations in different formats (.pdf, .doc, .ppt, among others).
  • Conduct surveys during sessions.
  • Use the interactive whiteboard.
  • Share a desktop or assign the control of the presentation with one of the participants (possibility enabled only if you have the role of moderator).
  • Distribute students in breakout rooms, where the professor can monitor each of these rooms and verify the progress of the activities. It should be noted that the discussion generated is of a private nature among the members that comprise it.
  • Use public and private chat in real time, among the different participants.
  • Use of the webcam, to promote greater proximity and break the ice among the participants so that they can get to know each other.
